The Complete NFL Futures Odds Picture : Week 2

Every team in the NFL is currently undefeated or winless. That leads to a ton of overreactions from the media and the betting public after Week 1. The best Week 2 NFL Futures bets don’t overreact to Week 2, they anticipate what will happen in Week 2 and 3 and adjust accordingly. If the Ravens are +2500 and that number seems attractive then just wait until after they lose to the Chiefs and their odds move to +3000 or higher. Sometimes the best bets are mapped out weeks in advance and sometimes the key is to strike before a too-good-to-be-true number goes away forever.

Stocks Rising

Arizona Cardinals Futures Odds Week 2

Current best odds: +3400 (FanDuel)

If the Cardinals beat the Vikings in Week 2, and they are favored to do so, they will play the Jaguars in Week 3. It’s fair to say that the Super Bowl odds for a 3-0 Arizona Cardinals team will be significantly lower than +3400. They might be half of that, at around +1700 or +1800.

Arizona had arguably the most impressive win of Week 1, going into Tennessee and demolishing a Titans team that won its division last year. They don’t give out MVP awards after one week but if they did, then Kyler Murray would probably win it. Murray’s current MVP odds, if you are curious, are now down to +1100, which places him sixth after Mahomes, Brady, Prescott, Wilson, and Stafford.

San Francisco 49ers Futures Odds Week 2

Current best odds: +1300 (FanDuel)

This number is unlikely to get much lower. A win over the Eagles on Sunday will only move the needle slightly and the 49ers will then host the Packers and Seahawks. They would likely need to get to 4-0 for any real movement on this line.

The 49ers are also more recession-proof than most teams. Raheem Mostert goes down? Elijah Mitchell is here. If Jimmy Garoppolo plays great? Amazing! If he struggles, Trey Lance is waiting in the wings. Of course, San Francisco, the most injured team in the league in 2020, is already dealing with health issues and there are a few players (Nick Bosa, George Kittle) it can’t afford to lose, but the 49ers have one of the deepest rosters in the league and bettors are already realizing that.

If they somehow lost to the Eagles, that would be a great time to jump on the Super Bowl future, if you are a true Niners believer.

Stocks Falling

Tennessee Titans Futures Odds Week 2

Current best odds: +3300 (Unibet)

Here’s the good news for Titans fans and bettors alike: they still play in the worst division in football. Tennessee has all the time it needs to work out any issues they have learning new offensive coordinator Todd Downing’s offense, with the Jaguars, Colts, and Texans “chasing” them for the AFC South crown.

As rough as they looked against the Cardinals, is there a single team outside the two Super Bowl teams from last year that has a better chance to win its division than Tennessee? No, there is not (though the Packers technically have slightly better odds in most books than Tennessee’s -150 to win the South.

Let the media focus on Derrick Henry’s workload and the offensive line’s struggles, this team isn’t going to every elite pass rusher five sacks per game and Derrick Henry is not going to average 3.4 yards per carry for the entire season. Even if he did, the Titans’ would probably still win their division and be well-suited to make a playoff run.

Green Bay Packers Futures Odds Week 2

Current best odds: +1600 (Points Bet)

Last October, the Packers went into Tampa Bay and embarrassed themselves. Aaron Rodgers threw the ball 35 times for 160 yards and tossed two interceptions, while getting sacked five times.

Was the sky falling that day? Green Bay bounced back to win 10 of its next 12 games and then arguably outplayed that every same Bucs team in the NFC Championship game. This is all to say, don’t lose too much sleep over Aaron Rodgers’ one bad game per year. The Saints have an excellent defense and the Packers didn’t show up. The time to get really worried is if Green Bay loses to the Lions on Monday night. It says here that is not going to happen, so this +1600 number could be the best you see for the Packers all season long.
