NFL Week 6 Best Bets: Water Finds its Level

This week, we hit the one-third mark of the NFL season. According to ancient decree, we are required to now ask, “Can you believe it’s already week 6?” Yes, life moves fast. But, here we are, at what has become an important mile-marker in the NFL.

At this point in the season, we start to see not what we expected, but what actually is. Water finds its level. But the good news is there are ways to take advantage of this as we enter (already) week 6 of the NFL season, and with it: our best bets.

NFL WEEK 6 BEST BETS: Who Dey? We Dey

The Cincinnati Bengals’ slow start was predictable. Joe Burrow’s calf injury proved to be more impactful than we thought. Through four games, Burrow threw for just 4.8 yards per pass, completing just 57.6% of his throws. The cure? The Arizona Cardinals.

People kept asking if he’s back, and he never had an answer. But yeah, I’m thinkin’ he’s back.

This week the Bengals return home, taking on the Seahawks, who we last saw dispatching the Giants with ease two weeks ago. This will be third trip to the Eastern half of the country in five weeks. While the bye week will help mitigate fatigue, they are catching the Bengals at the wrong time.

Losing Command

The Washington Commanders had it set up on a tee. A home game, welcoming a Bears team that had not won in eleven months. In a related story, D.J. Moore is still running.

Perhaps wins over the Cardinals and Broncos weren’t as impressive as we thought. This week they are at Atlanta, where the Falcons are coming off a gutty comeback win over Houston. In all honesty, we should hammer the Falcons just for this. Gorgeous.

Desmond Ridder showed plenty of moxie after a slow start to the season. He will have a chance to keep it going this week.

It’s All O-vah

The New England Patriots had the worst back-to-back games in 53 years. Bill Belichick’s team followed his biggest blowout loss as Patriots coach by almost beating it: 72-3 to Dallas and New Orleans.

New England lacks talent, and Mac Jones has regressed from what we thought was a low point last season.

You would think there is better news, as the Patriots visit the struggling Raiders. But then, there’s this…

The Patriots are 1-4 and at a crossroads. Meanwhile, the Raiders have a chance to get back to .500, and Josh McDaniels has one last chance to get one-up on his old mentor.

Ram Tough

The Rams lost last week to Philadelphia, but they also found a partner for America’s sweetheart Puka Nacua. Cooper Kupp came back with a vengeance in his first game. 8 for 118 sound good?

As for Arizona, that win over Dallas feels like a distant memory.

This might be the time Jonathan Gannon starts looking at Caleb Williams and Drake Maye tape. The Rams are getting better, the Cardinals are returning to what we expected them to be.

Cowboy Comeback

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a 32-point loss in front of roughly 20 million people. They were held to 197 yards, allowing 421 to perhaps the best team in the league.

The game told us a truth about what the Cowboys are. They’re good, not great, and not good enough to beat a team that doesn’t beat itself.

Enter Brandon Staley, a coach who loves trying to beat himself. The Chargers’ two wins came despite failing to convert a 4th-and-1 in their own territory in the closing minutes. They are not to be trusted against an actual playoff contender. The Cowboys are more talented than the Chargers, and this will largely be a home game for them.

Play: Cowboys -2 (-110 on PointsBet)
