2023 NFL Odds Preview: New York Giants Best Bets

The New York Giants made it to the NFC Divisional Round last season, a positive step for an organization that has struggled finding consistency. Lucky for New York, steady play should be on tap in 2023. After examining the New York Giants’ odds, here’s a look at the Giants’ three best bets heading into this season, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Giants to Have Another Winning Season Under Brian Daboll

The Giants posted a record of 9-7-1 in 2022, their best mark since 2016. In head coach Brian Daboll’s first year, New York won five more games than it did the previous season. And the Giants come into 2023 with a better roster. New York currently sits at +180 to win more than eight games. We like the Giants to post consecutive winning seasons.

One of New York’s biggest issues last season was its offensive weapons. The Giants bolstered that group during the offseason. They drafted Jalin Hyatt and signed Paris Campbell to improve a lacking receiver core. Then, they traded for tight end Darren Waller, who has two 1,000-yard seasons under his belt. New York should operate effectively with a stronger offense.

Although the Giants play in a tough division, their schedule includes nine teams that didn’t have winning records in 2022. If the G-Men take care of business and beat a couple of their harder opponents, they should finish over .500. A budding offense, well-rounded roster, and smart head coach spells success in the NFL.

New York Giants Odds: Back Daniel Jones in 2023

Daniel Jones had his best season in 2022, tossing over 3,200 yards and 15 touchdowns to just five interceptions. He proved himself as a leader and steady quarterback for over his 16 games. At FanDuel, the consistent Jones enters 2023 with +110 odds to throw 250+ yards in eight or more games. The quarterback’s added weapons and natural development should make this happen.

Like we already discussed, New York has added the likes of Darren Waller and Jalin Hyatt around Jones, providing him with sure hands and dynamic playmakers. That’s something Jones hasn’t had in his career. Jones averaged just over 200 yards a game in 2022, but that was with one of the worst receiving groups in the NFL. A lot of help came his way over the offseason and Jones will take advantage of it all in 2023.

Now that Jones has solidified himself as a franchise player and strong quarterback, things will come easier. There isn’t preseason noise that he could lose his job. Even if the G-Men aren’t a big Super Bowl contender, people understand the skillset he holds. And his ability to extend plays with his legs also provides more opportunities for receivers to get open. The offense is fully bought in around Jones. And with some weak defenses scattered across the Giants’ schedule, he will feast often. Jones will drastically improve as a passer this season, and 250 yards in eight games shouldn’t be too difficult.

Saquon Barkley Dominates the League on the Ground

Saquon Barkley posted a career high 1,312 rushing yards in 2022, ranking fourth in the entire NFL. He also ranked top ten in touchdowns and rushing attempts, proving to be a vital part of New York’s offense. After signing a one-year contract over the offseason to avoid the franchise tag, Barkley is back with the Giants and ready to build on last year. Saquon clocks in at +1500 to lead the NFL in rushing yards. This line is disrespectful to Barkley, and he’s in a position to prove the oddsmakers wrong.

Barkley was the most important player in a Giants offense that craved a reliable rusher. He silenced his previous injury history, appearing in 16 games for the second time in his career. And his workload was heavy too, attempting 15 or more rushes in a game 10 times. When people around the league began thinking defenses had figured him out, the Penn State alumn hit another gear. And although the Giants, as previously mentioned, got help on offense over the winter, Barkley is a mainstay on the field. No backup will significantly eat into his play, creating a perfect opportunity to head the league in yards.

The competition to lead the league in yards also diminished around Saquon. Josh Jacobs and Jonathan Taylor are in current stalemates with their respective organizations, which should lead to less snaps. Threats like Dalvin Cook, Jamaal Williams, and Miles Sanders all are on new teams. While others try to find footing, Barkley stays in familiar territory, aiding him in his quest. It’s a value bet, but Saquon has proven that the feat is more than attainable.
