Alabama’s done as a contender. Clemson might be done. TCU is alive and well. This is arguably the most wide open season since the College Football Playoff began, so let’s get to the rankings.
1. Georgia 9-0
Already clinched a spot in the SEC title game.
2. Michigan 9-0
One half was enough against Rutgers.
3. TCU 9-0
At Texas next week is the toughest game left on their schedule
4. Ohio State 9-0
They’re lucky to still be in the top five after that performance against Northwestern.
5. Tennessee 8-1
An 11-1 Tennessee team would be a very interesting call for the committee. Right now they are +2000 to win the championship, which is behind just Georgia, Ohio State, and Michigan. They need to root against LSU, TCU, Clemson, plus having every PAC-12 team reach two losses.
6. Ole Miss 8-1
Lane Kiffin is making about $5 million per win at this point, either from Ole Miss or from Auburn.
7. Oregon 8-1
Their reward for winning out could be a rematch against a Georgia team that smoked the Ducks 49-3 in Week One.
8. USC 8-1
Kind of a bummer that Oregon and USC don’t play in the regular season.
9. Alabama 7-2
They lost to LSU, by one, on the road. In case you’re wondering why they’re ahead of the Tigers.
10. LSU 7-2
Brian Kelly has the Tigers three wins (all against teams with 4+ losses) away from the SEC title game.

11. Clemson 8-1
This is probably harsh, but the CFP needs to keep the Tigers far away.
12. UCLA 8-1
If UCLA wins out, which would mean beating USC and likely Oregon, would that be enough?
13. Penn St. 7-2
Lose to Ohio State and Michigan, beat everyone else. You know the drill.
14. North Carolina 8-1
Have only allowed under 24 points once all season. Have scored at least 27 in every game.
15. Utah 7-2
Win out and they almost certainly can get to the Rose Bowl.
16. N.C. State 7-2
Wolfpack vs. Tar Heels could be one of the highlights of Thanksgiving weekend.
17. Liberty 8-1
If Hugh Freeze somehow got a different job, how about Jon Gruden for the next Liberty coach?

18. Texas 6-3
A big jump after not being in last week’s rankings. A win over TCU this week could set up a rematch with the Horned Frogs in the Big 12 Championship.
19. Tulane 8-1
They still have to play the other three top AAC teams; UCF, SMU, and Cincinnati
20. Illinois 7-2
Still have not played a ranked opponent.
21. Kansas State 6-3
48-0 win vs Oklahoma State looks less impressive this week.
22. Notre Dame 6-3
Have defeated the two best teams in the ACC, Clemson and North Carolina.
23. Washington 7-2
Michael Penix Jr. leads the nation with 3,232 passing yards.
24. UCF 7-2
HUGE game at Tulane this week.
25. Coastal Carolina 8-1
Grayson McCall has 75 TD and 7 INT in his college career.
Dabo Swinney became Clemson head coach in 2009. The Tigers have been the gold standard in the ACC just about ever since. Clemson won the National Championship in 2016 and 2018. Coach Dabo’s squad has also won at least 10 games every year s...
Since 2017, Michigan and Ohio St. are the only two teams that have won the Big Ten and/or appeared in the College Football Playoff from the league. Both squads are once again the favorites to win the conference, but will this be the year...
There’s little doubt that the SEC is the toughest conference in college football. The conference has had the last four national champions and produces the most NFL talent year-after-year. The odds show that SEC in 2023 should be no d...
The Pac 12 conference received a massive blow last weekend. The majority of its schools have announced they’re moving conferences. As of now, there will be only four teams in the conference following 2023: Cal, Oregon State, Stanford, and W...
