The Warriors and Kings faceoff in a decisive game six matchup in Oakland on Friday night. The Warriors were historically bad on the road in the regular season, going 11-30, but they finally got over the hump as they won game five in a hostile Sacramento environment. Steve Kerr and the Warriors are aiming to extend their incredible streak of never losing a western conference playoff series since Kerr took over as head coach in 2014, a perfect 18-0 record in western conference series. Both teams are exceptional at scoring, with the Kings leading the NBA in offensive efficiency, so no matter who ends up winning the series, the next game or two is going to be must watch tv.
Warriors (44-38)
Despite not having the best regular season, the Warriors are still a threat to make a title run. With +650 odds to win the NBA Finals, they are more likely to win it all than the one seed Nuggets. Their whole roster is filled with players who have championship experience, and with young guys who can provide a spark when needed. Steph Curry has been on another level, to no one’s surprise, averaging 31.4 points and hitting over 4 threes per game.
Steph’s splash brother, Klay Thompson, is playing like his vintage self averaging over 21 points per game and leading the Warriors in +/- for the playoffs.
The Kings are in the playoffs for the first time since 2006, and their fans couldn’t be happier. They’ve put Sacramento on the map in terms of major basketball cities, and the energy is palpable. They face elimination away from home, and the Warriors are desperately trying to avoid having to come back to Sacramento for a game seven, so it’ll be a tough task.
Win or lose, De’Aaron Fox has entered his name into the superstar conversation with his play this series. Fox is putting up 30 points, 7.4 assists, and 2.4 steals per game in the playoffs. Domantas Sabonis is averaging 17.2 points and 11.6 rebounds per game alongside Fox.
Our Prediction:
The Warriors have been dominant at home this whole season, and that won’t change Friday night, but the Kings will play well enough to cover the +7.5 point spread with a final score of 119-115, Warriors.
