There are only four games on Tuesday night but they are good ones. The Lakers make their annual trip to Madison Square Garden, but Lebron James will be in street clothes after his one-game suspension for his altercation with Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart. Detroit will play without Stewart on Tuesday when they host the Heat, while the game of the night might be the rematch from Sunday when the Mavericks play the Clippers in Los Angeles.
The Knicks are favored by 3 or 3.5 points, depending on the book, at home against a Lakers team that will be missing star Lebron James due to suspension, after James bloodied Pistons player Isaiah Stewart on Sunday. What would the line have been if James was playing? Lebron is generally worth about 4 points at this juncture of his career, so this line might have been a pick ‘em with him in the lineup.
The Lakers made a furious comeback to beat the Pistons on Sunday after James was ejected, led by an incredible performance from Anthony Davis. New York lost a tough game to the Bulls, 109-103.
The Knicks will be missing defensive stud Mitchell Robinson on Tuesday and point guard Derrick Rose is questionable with an ankle injury.
These teams have split the season series the past two years, but the Knicks have covered in five of their last six against the Lakers. New York is much deeper than a depleted Lakers team, and they’re the pick here.
For the second time in three days the Dallas Mavericks will play the Clippers in Los Angeles. The Clippers beat the Mavs 97-91 on Sunday, led by 29 points from Paul George, with Reggie Jackson adding 23, and Ivica Zubac giving L.A. a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Kristaps Porzingis added 25 points in a losing effort, while Jalen Brunson had 20 points and 8 assists.
Luka Doncic missed Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and is questionable to play on Tuesday night. This line is definitely anticipating Luka sitting out on Tuesday night, so there is an added bonus for Mavericks bettors if he ends up suiting up.
The Mavs have lost three straight games, losing a pair of competitive games against the Suns last week. The Clippers had lost by a combined 25 points to the Grizzlies and Pelicans before playing Dallas.
These teams, both missing their best players are pretty even, so take the Mavs getting 5 points and hope you get the added bonus of Luka playing.
The Miami Heat had two days off to prepare for the Pistons after snapping their four game winning streak with a close loss to the Wizards. Detroit lost to the Lakers in a contentious game on Sunday after losing to the Warriors on Friday night.
The Detroit Pistons are 4-12 this season and have dropped 16 of their last 20 games, dating back to last season. The Pistons have only been favored once this season and are 3-12 outright as a favorite.
The Heat are 12-5 ATS this season and 5-5 on the road, but 6-4 ATS in away games.
The Pistons have played three straight competitive games and this line is just a little too high. Miami shouldn’t be a double digit favorite against anyone right now, so Detroit is the play.
