Monday’s headlines will be dominated by the NCAAF national championship game, but there are still tons of good college basketball games to enjoy, several with NCAAB odds. After an amazing Sunday of college basketball, we hope Monday provides as much excitement.
Sunday started off with Indiana taking on Minnesota. Indiana had control the entire game to win 73-60. Later that day Northwestern took on #13 Ohio State. Ohio State won 95-87 and was led by E.J. Riddell, who had 34 points and could not be stopped. Sunday night was capped off with a thriller between #23 Wisconsin at Maryland. It was a battle all game going back and forth till the end. Wisconsin was able to sneak by and get some luck at the last second to win 70-69.
Now let’s take a closer look for the best bets ahead of Monday.
Alcorn State vs. Alabama State
The Bet: Alcorn State even spread
A SWAC game between Alcorn State and Alabama State. Both teams are desperately looking for a win in this one. This is an even match and should be a good game.
Alcorn State is off to a terrible start to the season at 3-11. They are a struggling team that has not played well this season. They are not good offensively or defensively. However they have won two straight games. Their offense and defense looked good in both games. They average 60.7 points per game and allow 73.8 points per game. Not the best stats for not the best team. Alcorn State is bad, but they are the better of the two here.
Alabama State is also off to an awful start to the season with a 3-12 record. Alabama State is a bad team that struggles all around. Their defense allows almost 80 points per game to opponents. However they have won two of their last three games. Alabama State should continue their season struggles in this game.
With an even matchup between two bad teams we went with the better offense in Alcorn State to win the game.
Oregon vs. Oregon State
The Bet: Oregon -6
A Pac 12 matchup between rivals Oregon and Oregon State. Both were tournament teams last season, but have had their struggles so far. Both teams are looking for a win to make a run in the 2nd half of the season.
Oregon is off to an ok start to the season at 8-6. I say “ok start” because they have been expected of doing much better. have not looked great all season. They have looked inconsistent on offense and have struggled on defense all season. Every game where it seems they have figured it out they regress the next game. They recently lost to #1 Baylor in a game where they played great, but lost by eight points. They have however won two straight games since and are looking to make it three against a struggling Oregon State.
Oregon State had a magical run in the tournament last season where they made it to the Elite 8, I would not count on even a tournament appearance this season. Oregon State has gotten off to a terrible start to the season at 3-10. They have however won two straight games as well and are looking to make it three. They have been inconsistent on offense and have struggled on defense though. It should be tough to make it three straight wins against a good Oregon opponent.
With Oregon State’s struggles this year we like Oregon to cover the 6 point spread.
San Diego vs. Pepperdine
The Bet: Pepperdine -3
The final game of the night between San Diego and Pepperdine. An even matchup between the two. Can Pepperdine win for Zoey and Chase?
Pepperdine has struggled this season, they are 6-10 on the year. We had just watched Pepperdine this weekend play Gonzaga where they lost 117-83. The loss was expected, but now Pepperdine is expected to bounce back and win. Pepperdine has played well recently, going 4-2 in their last six games. Pepperdine is a good offensive team that averages 70.4 points per game. Their issues rely on their defense that allows 75.4 points a game to opponents. If Pepperdine can stop San Diego’s offense they can easily win.
San Diego is 7-7 on the season. They are trying to keep ahead of conference rivals like Pepperdine, but have looked inconsistent all year. They are a quiet team that does not score much, but their defense carries them. Their defense only allows 62.3 points per game. If San Diego can finally get some offense going this season they can win games.
With Pepperdine’s offense and San Diego’s lack of it we like Pepperdine to cover the 3 point spread.
