MLB Best Bets For Wednesday, June 8

Amongst our top three MLB picks of the day, is one of our favorite picks of the entire baseball season. Sometimes there just comes along a line that makes no sense, and today is that day. Here are our three best bets for Wednesday’s games.

Cubs @ Orioles

The Bet: Cubs Moneyline (-118, FanDuel)

Marcus Stroman has had a tough first season with the Chicago Cubs. Stro has a 5.32 ERA after not having an ERA over 4 since 2018. He was just shellacked for nine runs on ten hits by the Cardinals in his most recent start. But, there is some hope for Stroman. He dominated the cross-town White Sox last week, tossing seven three-hit innings. For the entire month of May, he allowed just four runs in four starts.

We’re predicting that Stroman gets it together tonight against the Orioles in Camden Yards.

Diamondbacks @ Reds

The Bet: Diamondbacks Moneyline (+107, Unibet)

Merrill Kelly of the Diamondbacks will face off against Mike Minor of the Reds. Kelly has a 3.66 ERA with a 3.41 FIP. Minor allowed five runs in four innings in his first start of the season against Washington last week. A former top prospect, Minor has struggled immensely in recent years/ He had an ERA hovering around 5.50 for both Texas and Oakland in 2020 and he compiled a 5.05 ERA in 28 starts for the Royals last season.

Would it then surprise you to learn that Kelly’s Diamondbacks are the underdogs in this game? We’re riding Arizona today.

Phillies @ Brewers

The Bet: Brewers Moneyline (+116, Unibet)

We don’t quite understand this line. Milwaukee’s Adrian Houser has a 3.51 ERA and the metrics back it up, as his FIP is 3.64. Philadelphia’s Aaron Nola has a 3.92 ERA.

The Brewers are 33-24 and lead the NL Central. The Phillies are 26-29 and are third in the NL East standings.

So, what are we missing? Why are the Phillies solid home favorites in Milwaukee? Sure, the Brewers have lost four straight (the last one by one run, the game before that in ten innings) and the Phillies have won five in a row. Who cares? The MLB season is long; bad teams go on winning streaks, good teams have slides. We’re putting two units on the Brewers today.
